Cruising has long been one of the most fun and celebrated vacation options out there, and it's easy to see why. Cruises let you pay one price for lodging and transportation, and many let you visit up to six destinations in a single trip. Of course, you also get to access all the awesome features cruise ships offer, from onboard water parks to specialty restaurants, relaxing spas, and casinos - and all while enjoying dramatic ocean views in every direction.

The fact is, cruising sounds idyllic because it is, but there is one small problem. While cruise ships are enormous, individual cruise ship cabins tend to be tight on space.

While most cruise cabins have enough room for your luggage and belongings, along with a small couch for lounging, there are times when most people want more room to spread out. This is especially true if you're cruising with kids!

The cabins we chose to highlight come from cruise lines like Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean, and they have a lot more space than you'll find in an interior room, an ocean view room or even a balcony suite.

Princess Cruises is known for offering luxury cruises in destinations like Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the California coast, yet few people know about their top-deck Sky Suites. These luxury suites have more than 1,000 square feet of balcony space alone (and more than 1,800 square feet of total space), and they sleep up to five guests. They also come with VIP perks like reserved theater seating, reserved Princess Cay bungalows, access to a Suite Experience Manager, a private shopping concierge and more.

The MSC Seashore, which is a newer MSC ship with sailings out of Miami, offers a to-die-for Owner's Suite that sleeps up to five guests. This suite is situated in the ship's exclusive Yacht Club area, and it has the largest balcony of any other cabin along with its own private whirlpool. Guests can relax and unwind in several separate areas, including a living area, a dining space and a spacious bedroom. The suite also has a large walk-in closet with luggage storage.

Norwegian Cruise Line ships, including the brand new Norwegian Prima, offer roomy and luxurious suites in a section of the ship called The Haven. These upgraded suites are located in an exclusive enclave that can be reached with private escalators, and they each come with a personal concierge and butler service. Each room also features panoramic ocean views thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass doors and spacious balconies, and there are owner's suites and penthouses available.

The Carnival Vista sails throughout the Caribbean from ports like Galveston, Texas and Port Canaveral, Florida, and it offers quite a few outsized suites for travelers who want extra space. The ship's Grand Suite includes an oversized living area and bedroom, a walk-in closet, a large bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and an expansive verandah with plenty of room to relax. Guests who book this class of cabin also get exclusive access to Havana Pool area, priority check-in, a dedicated room steward and other upgraded benefits.

The luxurious Oceania Riviera features six owner's suites that each have more than 2,000 square feet of space and span the entire beam of the ship. Each suite has its own living room, two walk-in closets, a dramatic entry foyer and indoor and outdoor whirlpool spas for relaxation. The Riviera itself was built in 2012, and guests love that it offers six open-seating gourmet restaurants with no surcharge, along with other dining options.

Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas is currently the world's largest cruise ship, and the Ultimate Family Suite is one of the largest room options on board. This multi-level suite has an in-room slide and climbing feature, a King bed for the parents, a bunk area for kids and multiple spaces for living and dining. Families will also find a lego wall, an air hockey table, an outdoor Jacuzzi suite and table tennis on the extensive outdoor balcony.

Virgin Voyages offers fun and eclectic adults-only cruises within the Caribbean and Europe, although the relatively new cruise line will ultimately expand its offerings in the coming years. The line's Scarlet Lady, which currently offers itineraries to destinations like Mexico and the Bahamas, also offers aptly named Massive Suites with more than 2,000 square feet of space. These suites are positioned at the front of the ship and come with private music rooms, outdoor hot tubs, separate living rooms and more than enough space to entertain.

The award-winning MSC Meraviglia, which currently offers sailings to destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico, offers a truly fantastic multi-level suite within its exclusive Yacht Club. This duplex suite offers a living room, a dining room and a bathroom with a shower on the main level, along with a sofa that easily converts to a double bed. The second story houses the master bedroom, two walk-in closets and a second bathroom with a bathtub.

The Grand Loft Suite on Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas sleeps up to four and has almost 700 square feet of interior living space. Set across two levels, this suite offers separate sleeping space for parents and kids, a huge walk-in shower, an expansive outdoor balcony and a living room. Guests also get access to a dedicated Royal Genie and dining at the exclusive suites-only restaurant.

The Wintergarden Grand Suite on the Seabourn Venture is made up of two levels that offer extra space for extended families or a small group of friends. This suite boasts almost 1,400 square feet of living space across two stories, a separate family room, two bedrooms and two separate outdoor verandas. Added perks include two bathrooms and dining space for six guests.

Holland America's Rotterdam has space for 2,668 guests with 2022 itineraries available in the Southern Caribbean. The ship's top tier suite, the Pinnacle Suite, has 1,290 square feet of interior and verandah space along with a separate living and dining area and a separate dressing room. This suite also has its own refrigerator and microwave, as well as an entirely private outdoor whirlpool. There's even an extra guest bathroom for cruise guests who love to entertain.

The MSC Divina is one of MSC Cruises' most popular ships, and it is currently offering sailings throughout the Caribbean. The ship's Yacht Club Royal Suite can be found in the most exclusive area of the ship - the Yacht Club - and it features a separate living area and dining room, a walk-in closet and a spacious master bathroom. The suite's comfortable King bed can also be converted to twin beds upon request.

Windstar Cruises is known for their elegant ships, including their luxurious Star Breeze and Star Legend yachts (which both underwent renovations in 2021) and the new Star Pride (which debuts in 2022). Each of these ships features unbelievable Grand Owner's Suites with three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a separate living area and dining room and two balconies with unparalleled ocean views. These suites can sleep up to seven guests, so they're perfect for a big family or couples who travel together.

Lindblad Expeditions offers their famous Igloos at Sea on two of their ships, the National Geographic Endurance and National Geographic Resolution. These igloo-shaped rooms are available for "open use" during the day and offer panoramic views of spectacular polar landscapes. However, guests who book an overnight stay will see their igloo transformed into the ideal sleeping space for two. Special colored LED lighting can even be illuminated during overnight stays, which allows guests to create their own "Northern Lights" ambiance.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises offers a showstopper suite on their new S.S. La Venezia, which currently sails to various European destinations. This spacious suite features a French balcony, an expansive living room, a separate bedroom and a roomy bathroom. Guests will also get access to luxury upgrades such as butler service, plush robes, cozy slippers, a fully-stocked bar and fresh fruit and cookies delivered daily.

The Carnival Mardi Gras, which originally debuted in June of 2021, offers one of the biggest and best cabins on any Carnival ship - the Carnival Excel Presidential Suite. This suite has a separate living area and bedroom, as well as two separate televisions, a walk-in closet and a dining area with a wet bar. Guests will also find a large bathroom with a shower and double sinks, plus a toilet and extra sink separated by a door for privacy. An outdoor hot tub on the wraparound balcony is another treat you'll find in this oversized cabin.

Princess Cruises is known for offering massive family suites, including some suites that have two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each of their two-bedroom suites sleeps up to eight people and features a large living room in between the two bedrooms. Guests who book this cabin will have three televisions to choose from, and a balcony big enough for everyone in your crew is right outdoors.

The Concierge Royal Suite with Verandah on the Disney Fantasy sleeps up to five people, which makes it perfect for a family with two or three kids. This roomy suite includes a separate bedroom for sleeping, two bathrooms, a living room, a dedicated space for dining, a pantry and wet bar, a walk-in closet and a giant verandah with its own whirlpool tub. This class of room also comes with VIP amenities such as exclusive access to dedicated areas on the ship and access to a private lounge with water and refreshments.
