Michelle da Silva Richmond has 35 + years of journalism experience, some of which included being travel editor for “The News,” Mexico’s daily English language newspaper, for which she was awarded the “Lowell Thomas Award” for “Best Travel Section” by the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).?
While a resident of Mexico City for nearly 20 years, she co-authored the Crown Insider’s Guide to Mexico, contributed to Fodor’s, Frommer’s and Fisher’s Mexico guide books and was editor of “Amigo” magazine.
As a freelance travel writer, Michelle has contributed to inflight magazines for American, Continental and United Airlines; Hartford Courant; AAA World, Travel & Leisure; Porthole Magazine; TravelAge West; Bride’s; Bridal Guide; PeterGreenberg.com and many others. She has been a longtime correspondent for USA Today 10 Best and Afar.com.
Her experience includes being a weekly travel columnist for Connecticut newspapers: The Middletown Press, reporter for the Glastonbury Citizen and editor of Avon Life (Life Publications).
In 2024, she published “Fleeting Moments,” her memoir about?her exciting career as a Pan Am “stewardess” and the adventures that ensued – on and off the plane - combined with a poignant love story with two men on different continents.
She is a longtime member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Society of American Travel Writers, and New York Travel Writers Association.
