About PromPeru
PromPeru, Peru's destination marketing organization recently launched an international campaign keyed to Hollywood-style film trailers that showcase Peru's luxury travel offerings as part of a strategy to appeal to high-end travelers. At the same time that it promotes Peru's diverse pre-Inca cultures, PromPeru wants to change the perception of the country's infrastructure and services by showcasing the variety of high quality luxury amenities the destination offers.
The campaign will be rolled in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Argentina, France and Spain between 2012-2013 aiming to increase visitor numbers by nine per cent by the end of 2014. The international marketing campaign seeks to highlight Peru's "excellent hotel infrastructure with luxury resorts" at the same time it promotes the country's historical attractions, said Jose Luis Silva Martinot, minister of foreign trade and tourism.
PromPeru's marketing strategy uses Machu Picchu as the platform to promote other regions, including Puno, Cusco, Amazonas, Kulap, Lambayeque, Trujillo, Piura, Tumbes, Arequipa, Loreto, Ica and Lima.
