In December of 2018, a new 35,000-square-foot art park opened in the heart of the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles. Wisdome LA bills itself as the world's first fully immersive entertainment art park. The massive location includes five fully immersive, 360-degree domes, all outfitted with 10.1 surround sound, creating a shared virtual reality experience combining the future of art, entertainment and technology.

Wisdome LA can hold up to 1,000 people both inside and around the domes, the largest of the domes being 90 feet and fitting up to 500 people. Of the five domes, two include 360-degree projection mapping technology.

Not only have the domes have been showcased at locations around the globe, but also at events like Burning Man, Coachella and Lightning in a Bottle.

In what will be the largest showcase of his work to date, the park will include over 70 works from Andriod Jones, renowned digital artist, in nine different formats. Visitors will be able to find digital canvases, Microdose VR, dynamic sculptures, shows, live performances and a spherical movie theater, just to name a few.

Best described as a digital painter, Jones is well known for his layered psychedelic works and live performances that use a custom-built digital set up. He participated in the Grateful Dead "Fare Thee Well Tour" and his work has been projected on the Sydney Opera House and the Empire State Building.

Jones also brings a centerpiece of the art exhibition, the visual journey known as "Samskara."

"Samskara" offers an opportunity to witness how the artist created the images and even a chance to participate in the process of creating. The stunning visual experience has been a staple of Burning Man and is available to view in Los Angeles.

With "Samskara," Android Jones and the Wisdome team seek to take the viewer out of the role of the art observer by placing them literally inside of what is happening.

Samskara is defined as a soul's impression, the hardly felt emotional track in the subconscious.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to work with the Wisdome team and bring 'Samskara' to Los Angeles," Android Jones said.

Also at Wisdome LA, a Microdose interactive VR game for guests to experience.

What is Microdose VR?

Co-founded by Android Jones and a key element of the Wisdome LA experience, Microdose VR a fully customizable platform that combines art, music and dance into a mind-altering creative VR experience.

"Wisdome is the first location-based entertainment venue if its kind in North America," Sean Ahearn, Vice-President of Fulldome, the parent company behind Wisdome LA, said. "Wisdome is based in LA because of easy access to the amazing pool of people talent and creative resources that only LA can provide."

"Wisdome is the culmination of the creative vision of founders George Aistov and myself," Ahearn said. "The concept was to create a one of a kind experiential venue based on the geodesic dome format that our parent company has pioneered at many events in the U.S.

"The response from both the general public and the local community has been fantastic. Most people have never had an experience like what a large scale 360 VR Dome complex can provide."

Currently, Wisdome is working on the design for a 175-foot, 2500-person capacity dome it plans on launching in the summer of 2019.

Cutting-edge technology is a fundamental component of the Wisdome LA experience.

"We have our own in-house proprietary software and hardware that allows for us to deliver the best 360 dome visuals in the world," Ahearn said. "We are also the only vertically integrated dome company to manufacture, distribute, install and provide tech support as well as create our own content."

On March 1, the venue will be hosting a special 20th anniversary screening of "10 Things I Hate About You," a cult hit from the 1990s which helped launch the careers of Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger.

The event with feature a question-and-answer panel with cast members and crew from the movie.

Wisdome LA continues a trend of gentrification for Los Angeles' Downtown Arts District. Previously defined primarily by warehouses, the area on the eastern edge of downtown has increasingly come to feature trendy galleries, boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants and bars.

"Our headlining show Think Floyd, an immersive experience of the music of Pink Floyd, has sold out all eight shows so far," Ahearn said. "Our other music and VR based shows are proving to be increasingly popular. So far LA has embraced Wisdome!"

In addition to meditation sessions (pictured), Wisdome LA also has immersive group fitness sessions planned for 2019.

Wisdome LA is open Thursday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until midnight. Adult tickets are $29.00, children's tickets are $9.00.

What does the future have in store for Wisdome LA?

"We are running our successful Pink Floyd shows twice a month while working hard on new music-based concepts," Ahearn said. "Our health and wellness-based programming is also very exciting featuring music, dance, yoga and sound healing. We also are collaborating with a very well-known LA-based performance troupe and hope to have a big announcement for a new show soon."
