This year is set to see scores of great competitions take place, and the following are 25 of the hottest events scheduled for 2022.

Where: Indianapolis, Indiana
When: January 10
Storyline: Georgia and Alabama will square off for the second time this year, but this time it's for the college football's ultimate crown. Will the 'Dawgs score their first national championship since 1980 or will Alabama nab their first title since, erm, last January? Sam Hunt kicks off the festivities with a tailgate concert on what is sure to be an unforgettable night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Winter X Games will once again show off the skill of extreme skiers and snowboarders, beginning each day with Slopestyle events and finishing with SuperPipe displays under the lights. Storyline: Head to T-Mobile Arena on Friday night for the famous NHL All-Star Skills competitions which features accuracy shooting, hardest shot and fastest skater contests among other fun events. Then, watch the biggest stars in the NHL compete in a fast-paced, high-scoring three-on-three tournament during the All-Star Game on Saturday.

When: February 5 - March 19
Storyline: This prestigious annual Rugby tournament between England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy and Ireland is one of the highlights of the European sports calendar. It is still being decided whether or not fans will be allowed at Six Nations 2022, but even if they aren't, being in one of the host nations during the tournament and watching a match (each team plays each other once) with local fans-learning a few things about rugby along the way-is sure to be a memory that will last a lifetime.

Storyline: After you've watched hockey's finest play in Vegas on Saturday, head down the street to Allegiant Stadium and watch the all-stars of football play on Sunday. Once again, the Pro Bowl will bring together 88 of the best players in the league for a season-ending celebration of the game. Arrive early in the week to see the stars of tomorrow play in the Shrine East-West College Game.

Storyline: The best of the best will give basketball fans a show at Rocket Mortage Arena as the league will use the All-Star Weekend 2022 to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Events over the three days include the Celebrity Game, Rising Stars Game, Skills Challenge, Slam Dunk Contest and the game itself on Sunday.

Storyline: The richest purse in NASCAR and most prestigious race on the calendar always signifies the start of a new season, and this year's competition at Daytona International Speedway promises to be a great one. The days leading up to the race are filled with fun events in addition to the twin races of the Duel which will set the field for the big race on Sunday.

When: April 1-3
Storyline: Watch the last four standing in the Women's NCAA Basketball tournament choose a champion with three games at the Target Center. The two semifinal games will take place on Friday night with the final taking place on Sunday afternoon. In addition, the weekend will feature a fan festival, concert and the pregame Party in the Plaza event.

Storyline: March Madness is scheduled to be back to be its normal self this year, with the usual collection of the first round, second round and regionals spread across the country. Everything will come to a crescendo at Ceasers Superdome in the Big Easy the first weekend of April though, with a range of festivities planned (think music festivals and a basketball parade) to enhance the fan experience.

Storyline: The world's oldest annual marathon returns for another turn on the streets of Boston, and this year it will be back on its preferred date: Patriots Day in April. Join locals and tourists alike celebrating in the leadup to the race then cheer on the racers on Monday on what promises to be an especially electric atmosphere.

Storyline: You won't regret a run to Churchill Downs for the Run for the Roses. While the nation's most prestigious horserace may only last a minute or two, the festivities start early in the week and go strong well after the winner has been declared. And yes, in case you're wondering, there will be plenty of Mint Juleps involved.

When: May 16-22
Storyline: The best professional golfers in the world will descend on Southern Hills Country Club for the season's second major tournament. Will we see history like what Phil Mickelson did last year? If you're a golf fan, might as well make it to up-and-coming Tulsa just in case it does.

Storyline: The 106th edition of this esteemed race will once again bring the best IndyCar racers in the world to the Brickyard on Memorial Day Weekend to kick off summer with a bang. Practice and qualifying start as early as May 17th though, so you have plenty of options to get in on the racing fun.

When: May 26-29
Storyline: The most glamorous motor race in the world, the Monaco Grand Prix t is the most sought-after win on the annual Formula One calendar. Visit to soak in the sunshine on the Monaco coast and rub tanned shoulders with a who's who of celebrities and social royalty from around the world.

When: June 17-27
Storyline: The best college baseball teams in the nation will return to Omaha for one of America's most sensational sporting events. This double-elimination eight-team tourney is typically full of twists and turns, offering up a truly unique fan experience.

Where: London, England
When: June 27-July 10
Storyline: Summer doesn't truly start in England until the players have taken to the grass of the All England Lawn & Tennis Club in white to compete for the game's most historic title. See the sights in the center of London, then head out to Wimbledon to sip a Pimm's, snack on strawberries and cream and join thousands of tennis fans from all over the world for a sports experience of a lifetime.

When: July 1-24
Storyline: That's not a typo, this year, the Tour de France will kick off in Copenhagen and see the first three stages of the race take place in Denmark before returning to France for the majority of the competition. The tour truly is a sight to behold as villages and towns all over the course turn out to wish the racers well, and as long as you do your homework on the route you'll be able to join in on all the fun. Follow the race around the country or just show up in Paris on the last day to watch the finale on the Champs-?lys��es; it's up to you.

Storyline: The 150th edition of The Open Championship will take place in the game's spiritual home: the Old Course at St. Andrews. The wild and wonderful Fife Peninsula is one of Britain's most beautiful corners, and St Andrews is a lovely town that will stay with you long after you watch the Claret Jug get lifted.

When: July 15-24
Storyline: Originally scheduled for last summer, the best athletes from the world of track & field will finally descend on world-renowned Hayward Field at the University of Oregon to crown their champions. It will be the first time the event will take place in the United States, which should give the home squad extra motivation to take home some titles.

Storyline: For the fourth time in franchise history, the Dodgers will play host to the Midsummer Classic. In addition to the big game on Tuesday, the festivities are once again expected to include the Futures Game and wildly popular Home Run Derby.

Storyline: Fans and international teams will once again be able to watch and participate in this classic rite of summer. This year will also see an expansion of the tournament from 16 teams to 20.

Storyline: America's most revered tennis tournament will once again hold court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. Whether or not you take in an early-round match on a side court or are lucky enough to watch one of the finals at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, you are in for a treat.

Storyline: We saved the best for last as the world's most-watched sporting event will cap off a sensational year of sports. In order to avoid the high temperatures of the Qatari summer, the 2022 World Cup will take place in the lead-up to the holidays, which will add a unique feeling to the tourney.
