Affectionately known as the grand dame resort of the Rockies, The Broadmoor, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Designed to represent the bold ideas of a man named Spencer Penrose, the property was something Colorado travelers had never seen before when it opened in 1918-a grand hotel where European service met Western hospitality, all amid a setting of striking beauty. As part of its centennial celebrations, The Broadmoor has just completed sweeping renovations.

The hotel's 100-year-old main lobby has been reimaged, including removing walls and providing a grand entry experience while also maintaining and honoring the historic elements guests expect. The lobby now has more seating for arriving guests, including two exquisite areas with sofas and gas fireplaces. Gone are many of the retail shops that intruded on the original space.

Remaining true to its history and timeless aesthetic, the resort's Broadmoor Main rooms and suites have been refreshed with new colors, furniture, and carpeting.

Because the hotel's ownership wanted to keep the property's history intact, as much as possible, it chose longtime property partners Johnson David Interiors to lead the renovations and act as stewards of the Broadmoor's legacy. Johnson David Interiors has worked with The Broadmoor for more than 20 years. That being said, guests will now find USB ports and well-placed outlets, moving the historic rooms solidly into modern-day convenience territory.

The Golf Club at The Broadmoor now has a welcoming experiential lobby area for guests and members that celebrates the history of golf at the resort, including sacred-ground moments like Jack Nicklaus winning his first amateur title.

The new Golf Heritage Hallway takes guests and golf members through 100 years of golf history through photos, displays, and descriptions. The new space and homage to the game is timely, as the resort is slated to host the U.S. Senior Open this June.

In addition to room, lobby, and golf club renovations, The Broadmoor has also just opened the doors to its newest culinary destination, The Grille. The restaurant features historical resort signature dishes, such as Broadmoor Pepper Steak Flamb��, Veal Chop Milanese, and Crab Louis with jumbo lump blue crabmeat.

Located in the Golf Club, The Grille offers hotel guests and golf club members a menu that brings back some Broadmoor dining favorites in a reimagined space that inspires not only with its restaurant design but also with a classic bar and Colorado mountain views

One of the sweetest new updates at The Broadmoor is the opening of Caf�� Julie's. The design is reminiscent of the finest classic Paris patisseries. The cafe will feature a luxury Valrhona Chocolate Collection, house-made gelato, Lavazza specialty coffees, artisan breads, specialty pastries, cakes, soups and salads.

Recently acknowledged as an AAA Five Diamond property for its 42nd consecutive year, The Broadmoor is also the longest-running Forbes Five Star resort. The legendary property is where the West begins - at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs. The Broadmoor encompasses 5,000 acres and has its own canyon with mountain waterfalls. The property officially turns 100 on June 29, an occasion that will be marked with fireworks and then the opening round of the U.S. Senior Open.
