Nonprofit Tourism Cares, which focuses on advancing sustainability in the travel industry, has launched a new travel industry event series called the Meaningful Travel Roadshow in multiple cities across the United States to promote sustainable tourism.?
The Meaningful Travel Roadshow will be held in three destinations across the U.S. this year: Miami (May 15-16), Pittsburgh (October 7) and Galveston (November 14).?
The roadshow includes peer-to-peer learning and education workshops, followed by tours and experiences featured in the Meaningful Travel Maps of Miami, Pittsburgh and Galveston for industry professionals to view firsthand how sustainable and responsible tourism can impact local communities and provide travelers with incredible experiences.?
Each event is themed for something specific the three cities do well.?
Greater Miami: A Coastal Destination at the Crossroads of Culture and Conservation is the first roadshow event, in which attendees will learn and then experience for themselves the urban environment that works towards human growth and environmental responsibility.?
The second roadshow event, Pittsburgh: Reinvention Through Sustainability will provide attendees with a glimpse at how urban areas can be revitalized with a focus towards sustainable tourism and growth.?
Lastly, attendees of the Galveston: History Meets Habitat on the Gulf Coast roadshow will learn about the citys historic heritage and community-led projects to create more sustainable public spaces.?
We are excited to expand our traditional North American Meaningful Travel Summit to a roadshow format and provide more ways for travel professionals to learn about and act on important issues around sustainability, such as cultural preservation, climate change, social equity, and destination stewardship, said Greg Takehara, CEO of Tourism Cares. It is more important than ever for travel and tourism businesses to step up and act as leaders in sustainability to help ensure that the people and places of travel thrive.
