Delta
Air Lines announced that it would launch its first-ever nonstop service
from Salt Lake City to South America.
Starting on December 4, Delta will operate daily flights between
New Jorge Chvez International Airport in Lima, Peru, and Salt Lake City
International Airport in Utah, with the service becoming the first direct
connection between the two cities.
This new route is a significant milestone for Delta and our
customers in Salt Lake City and throughout the Mountain West, Delta Senior
Vice President Paul Baldoni said. With this expanded connectivity through our
Salt Lake City hub, were proud to offer a faster, more convenient way to reach
Lima and other major cities across South America.
The airline revealed that the new route strengthens
Deltas partnership with LATAM by offering customers convenient one-stop
connections from Salt Lake City to major South American cities, including Sao
Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and more.
The carriers new flights will be operated on a?widebody
Boeing 767-300ER, which features four product experiences:?Delta One, Delta
Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.?
Once the new route launches, Delta will offer up to?265
peak-day departures to 96 destinations from the Utah airport, with additional
gates being added by 2027, which will support continued growth in the region.
The creation of this first-ever nonstop gateway between
Utah and South America is an exciting opportunity to build upon Utahs growing
importance on the world stage and it underscores Deltas commitment to our
state, Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox said.
