Dominican Republic carrier Arajet launched ticket sales for
flights from New Jerseys Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Las
Amricas Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ) beginning June 16.
The new flights aboard the low-cost airline will provide a
vital connection between the Dominican Republic and the New York metropolitan
area, home to the largest community of Dominican diaspora, said Arajet
officials.
The Newark service will complement routes between the DR,
Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico, to establish Arajet as a carrier of choice for
U.S. travelers booking vacations and getaways as well as visiting friends and
family, said Victor Pacheco, Arajets CEO and founder.
Arajet is committed to making air travel accessible and
affordable for the Dominican community and American tourists alike, and New
York is a key market to strengthen our U.S. presence, Pacheco added.
Arajet began operations in 2022 as a discount airline serving
Caribbean and Central American gateways, designed to provide an option for the Dominican
Republics diaspora as well as leisure visitors.
Operating from Santo Domingo and Punta Cana International
Airport utilizing Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the airline now travel from the Dominican
Republic and to destinations in North, Central and South America and the
Caribbean.
Flights are now available on the carriers website for $127
one way from Newark to Santo Domingo and $135 from Santo Domingo to Newark.
From Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic travelers can explore
24 destinations across the country, said officials. EWR offers close proximity
to Manhattan and the greater New York region with connections to public
transportation.
