More than 150 passengers aboard an Air India flight from Dubai to Lucknow, India were left stunned last weekend when a 35-year-old male passenger stripped naked and started walking down the aisle.
According to the Times of India, the incident occurred Saturday when the man, identified only as Surendra, undressed in mid-air, prompting crew members to restrain him and wrap him in a blanket.
He was eventually turned over to authorities when the flight landed.
"As per the direction of the Captain of the flight, the passenger was handed over to Airlines Security at Lucknow Airport where an investigation is underway," an airline spokesperson told ANI.
Air India officials said Surendra was suffering from "mental trauma" due to alleged harassment by his employer. The man told authorities he was harassed often and denied his leave and stripped naked in protest because he thought the flight was landing in Pakistan.
The incident comes less than one year after an Alaska Airlines passenger surprised travelers on a flight from Seattle to Anchorage by stripping naked and running the length of the cabin before being tackled by fellow passengers.
