Southwest Airlines has just announced a full slate of new flight offerings designed to help travelers get to popular sporting events. And in a new move for the airline, Southwest is also beginning redeye operations for the first time.
Heres a rundown of the new Southwest offerings.
Additional round-trip service for gridiron fans
After expanding its college football and professional football flight offerings, Southwest Airlines, which recently revealed that it is the official airline of the Southeastern Conference, is expanding service for college football events for the following dates and locations:
Game Location and Date: Las Vegas, Nevada, Sept. 1, 2024
- Dallas (Love Field), Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada
- Houston (Hobby), Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada
Game Location and Date: Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sept. 7, 2024
- Dallas (Love Field), Texas and Detroit, Michigan
Game Location and Date: Norman, Oklahoma,? Sept. 21, 2024
- Nashville, Tennessee and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Expanded flight options for professional football
Game Location and Date: Atlanta, Georgia, Sept. 22, 2024
- Kansas City, Missouri and Atlanta, Georgia
Game Location and Date: Las Vegas, Nevada, Sept. 29, 2024
- Columbus, Ohio and Las Vegas, Nevada
Expanded warm-weather destination routes
For travelers who have their sights set on visiting a sunnier locale during the winter months, Southwest is also adding more flights connecting traditionally cold-weather cities to the Florida and California coasts. Effective Jan. 7, 2025, the new routes will include service between:
- Columbus, Ohio and Miami, Florida
- Chicago (Midway) and Palm Springs, Calfornia
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida
- Providence, Rhode Island and West Palm Beach, Florida
Here come redeyes
Southewests first redeye operation are slated to begin February. 13, 2025. These new overnight flights will initially be available between the following locations:
- Las Vegas, Nevada and Baltimore/Washington
- Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando, Florida
- Los Angeles, California and Baltimore/Washington
- Los Angeles, California and Nashville, Tennessee
- Phoenix, Arizona and Baltimore/Washington
