October saw a nine percent increase in the number of air travelers from last year, with total U.S. travel agency air ticket sales reaching $8.1 billion, according to new data from Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC).
ARCs monthly data found that the average ticket prices remain steady, at $557, but more travelers took to the skies in October, with a total of 23.7 million passenger trips.
Air ticket sales rose 12 percent year-over-year.?
The months passenger volume was roughly the same as it was in September, but the number of international trips dropped two percent, while domestic trips increased by one percent.
Either way, both types of air travel have increased year-over-year by about nine percent each, showing how travelers desire to travel more during months that are traditionally considered the shoulder season.?
Octobers air travel data showed a strong start to the fourth quarter, said Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC. Increased sales were driven largely by a strong dollar and the yearly increase in international passenger trips is a positive trend of what we expect to continue through the end of the calendar year.
