The performance of domestic and international airlines was
heavily scrutinized during the winter
holiday travel period, but carriers are being rewarded for their on-time
success and operating excellence.
Aviation analytics company Cirium released
its 2023
On-Time Performance Review, with Delta Air Lines receiving the Cirium
Platinum Award for the third year in a row. Delta also topped the rankings for
being the most on-time airline in North America, at 84.72 percent.
As for the remainder of North American rankings, Alaska
Airlines (82.25 percent), American Airlines (80.61 percent), United Airlines (80.04
percent) and Southwest Airlines (76.26 percent) rounded out the top five.
It's incredible to witness Delta Air Lines winning its
third consecutive Platinum Award and topping the North American Category, Cirium
CEO Jeremy Bowen said. Other airline and airport winners steered through the
year's operational hurdles with exceptional performance.
Their relentless pursuit of efficiency and punctuality is
commendable as we venture into 2024, a year brimming with promise for the
aviation sector, Bowen continued.?
The coveted position of the most
on-time global airline went to Avianca Airlinesbased in Bogota, Columbiawith
an on-time percentage of 85.73 percent. The rest of the top five were rounded
out by Azul Airlines (85.51 percent), Qatar Airways (85.11 percent), Delta Air
Lines (84.72 percent), and Iberia (84.38 percent).
Cirium also unveiled the top performing international airports
of 2023, with Minneapolis-St. Paul (84.44 percent), Rajiv Gandhi (84.42 percent),
Kempegowda (84.08 percent), El Dorado (84.01 percent) and Salt Lake City (83.99
percent) completing the top five list.
