A study revealed that an astounding 41 percent of men on airplanes cry during in-flight movies.
According to TravelandLeisure.com, the survey from Virgin Atlantic also revealed that an estimated 55 percent of overall travelers became emotional while flying, but no data was available on what percentage of women cried on airplanes.
Some of the reasons behind the tears include traveling alone, feeling powerless to control the safety of the plane and the inability to contact friends and family.
"On a flight we're isolated, leaving loved ones or aching to be reunited with them," Virgin Atlantic film critic Jason Solomons said. "We're nervous, we're tired, we might have had a drink at a time we usually wouldn't. You don't really want to land with mascara running down your cheeks or bloodshot eyes but you can't help it."

Another factor could be the pressure and oxygen levels in the cabin of airplanes, which decreases blood oxygenation, impacting a traveler's mood. While the initial mood often experienced at altitude is euphoria, it may be followed by depression.
Add in a few drinks, and the stress of air travel coupled with the lack of sleep could result in even the toughest men shedding tears at the latest movie release.
