Antigua and Barbuda officials announced the launch of a direct
link to the Caribbeans ABC islands via a new twice-weekly British Airways flights
between Antigua and Barbudas V.C. Bird International Airport and Arubas Queen
Beatrix International Airport.
The new flight enhance(s)
inter-regional connectivity within the Caribbean, said Antigua and Barbuda
Tourism Authority officials in a statement.?
The new flights also complement the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism
Authoritys growth and diversification strategy into new markets, said Charmaine
Spencer, ABTAs director of tourism for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The new flights will depart on
Sunday and Thursday, said officials. We are pleased with this new service, as
it is the first direct connection between Antigua and Aruba, Spencer said.?
It is also an opportune time
to attract new potential visitors for the summer and access new markets to
promote our cultural events, Spencer added. Introductory roundtrip
airfares for the route start at $448, said officials.
Were delighted to be offering more inter-regional connectivity
with this new flight between Aruba and Antigua, said Diane Corrie, British
Airways commercial manager for the Caribbean.?
The?dual-island Caribbean nation will host a series of culturally focused events this
spring and summer, including Antigua
and Barbuda Art Week (April 17 to 22), the Antigua
Classic Yacht Regatta (April 19 to 24), Antigua
Sailing Week (April 29 to May 5), Antigua and Barbuda
Restaurant Week (May 7 to May 21) and Antiguas Carnival, held from July 27 through
August 8.?
