Carnival Cruise Line has become the first cruise line to ferry 10 million passengers from Galveston, Texas.
The company achieved the milestone when Marsha Taulton of Houston stepped foot onboard the Carnival Breeze and became the 10 millionth Carnival guest to depart from Galveston. Taulton was traveling with her husband, Paul, and both were welcomed onto the ship by Isidoro Renda, the ships captain, and Rodger Rees, the chief executive officer and port director of Galveston Wharves.

This is an achievement that speaks to the success of our longstanding partnership with the port and the greater Galveston community, says Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. We are grateful to our guests who have sailed with us from Galveston over the past two decades, continually driving the popularity of this homeport forward. The future is certainly bright, as were delighted to welcome more guests aboard than ever before from this great citynext stop, 20 million!
Carnival has been sailing year-round from Galveston since 2000. The company recently expanded its footprint there with the addition of Carnival Jubilee in December. And, later this year, Carnival Miracle will begin sailing from Galveston, bringing the total number of Carnival ships homeporting there to four.
By the end of this year, Carnival expects to increase its Galveston capacity by 20 percent compared to last year. The cruise line will carry more than 800,000 guests.
