Carnival Cruise Line announced it had moved Carnival
Legend’s Baltimore operations to Norfolk, Virginia, following the collapse of
the Key Bridge.
A large section of Baltimore's?Francis
Scott Key Bridge collapsed?early
Tuesday morning after it was struck by a cargo ship, forcing major road
closures and disrupting commercial shipping dependent on the Maryland port.
“Our thoughts remain with the impacted families and first
responders in Baltimore,” Carnival President Christine Duffy said. “We
appreciate the pledge made by President Biden today to dedicate all available
resources to reopen Baltimore Harbor to marine traffic as soon as possible.”
When Carnival Legend returns from its current voyage on
Sunday, March 31, the vessel will dock in Norfolk, and passengers will be
provided complimentary bus service back to Baltimore.
Cruise line officials revealed that Carnival Legend’s next
seven-day itinerary departing on March 31 will then operate from and return to
Norfolk. Travelers on the current and upcoming cruises are being informed of the
necessary changes.?
“As those plans are finalized, we will update our future
cruise guests on when we will return home to Baltimore, but in the meantime, we
appreciate the quick response and support from officials in Norfolk,” Duffy
continued.?
