A Carnival Cruise Lines ship went off course over the weekend.
And with good reason.
The Carnival Radiance rescued
25 people who were stranded on a small boat off the coast of Mexico on
Saturday. The ship had left California on Friday for a holiday weekend cruise
to Mexico.?
Then came a call on Saturday morning.
On the other end was the United States Coast Guard, asking for help with
people who were in distress. There was no hesitation. The Radiance re-routed
from its itinerary and rescued the people, including three children. The cruise
ship provided food, water and medicine, and then returned the people to the
Coast Guard.
The
Radiance was able to get back on its original route.
This is not the first time a cruise ship has been asked to preform a duty
for a stranded civilian boat, of course. Its not the first time this year, and
its not
even the first time in the month of May.
Three weeks ago, Royal Caribbeans Icon of the Seas rescued 14 people
who were stranded.
