The Carnival AirShip took to the skies over Memphis today. The new "vessel" is a red, white and blue cruise-ship shaped blimp. It's flying over the Southern US as part of Carnival Cruise Line's Homeport Advantage campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about new regional deployments.
In the next 30 days, the Airship will float above Dallas and Houston. It then continues to the homeports of Galveston, New Orleans, Mobile, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville and Charleston before ending in Atlanta.
Along the way, observers who post photos or videos of the blimp with the hashtag #ChooseFun can win prizes, including free cruises. Posts on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #ChooseFun hashtag also trigger a donation to St. Jude, Carnival's longtime charitable partner.
"Carnival is America's Cruise Line and what better way to showcase our new offerings in popular homeports like Galveston, Port Canaveral, and Miami than with our very own Airship that highlights our #ChooseFun tagline while supporting the special kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Four Carnival ships will arrive to their new homeports in September. Namely, Carnival Horizon and Carnival Magic to Miami; Carnival Vista to Galveston and Carnival Breeze to Port Canaveral.
