Luxury cruise line Crystal signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to construct two new ships for the future.?
The ships will offer accommodations for 690 passengers and weigh 61,800 gross tons each. Architectural firms Studio Ibsen and Studio Gem will design the ships, along with a third firm yet to be appointed. The line also has an option to build a third sister ship for delivery in 2032.?
The first ship is expected to be delivered in 2028. Both will offer all-suite accommodations with private verandas and a single occupancy category for solo travelers.?
Like the Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, which was recently refurbished, each of the two ships will offer a promenade extending across the whole ships perimeter, a variety of dining options including the only Nobu restaurants at sea, a casino, spa and fitness center, family area and more.?
Our aim is to continue setting a new standard in cruising, offering our guests an unmatched level of service and sophistication, said Christina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group. These new ships will receive the same level of attention I have reserved for my own house.
The cruise line, which was acquired by A&K Travel Group in 2022, is focused on expanding its service, offerings and fleet in this new era.?
This order not only highlights the robust recovery of the cruise sector, in line with our Industrial Plan, but also reaffirms Fincantieris leadership, thanks to the operational excellence of our shipyards and the execution quality of our world-class supply chain, stated Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri. We are thrilled to partner with Crystal in our pursuit of innovation and excellence, under the guidance of a shipowner who has always been close to our Group, like Manfredi Lefebvre dOvidio."
