Disney Cruise Line has unveiled the name and more details about its newest ship: Disney Destiny.
The 144,000-ton vessel—which is the sister ship to Disney Wish and the forthcoming Disney Treasure—is now officially under construction in Papenburg, Germany. The cruise line celebrated with a keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard.

Disney Destiny is slated to debut in 2025. Until then, crews will be hard at work building and designing the ship, which will feature a “Heroes and Villains” theme. Designers were inspired by the “dynamic duality” of Disney stories, which feature “opposing forces of light and dark,” according to a statement.
Once the ship is complete, guests will be able to interact with good guys and bad guys from movies like “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” Along those same lines, the ship’s bow will feature new filigree artwork that shows a heroic Minnie Mouse wearing a billowing cape.
Disney Destiny is the third vessel in Disney’s new Triton Class of ships. In 2022, the line also purchased a partially completed ship, which it named Disney Adventure, that will debut in 2025 and homeport in Singapore.
More broadly, the cruise line is rapidly growing its fleet. Founded in 1995, Disney Cruise line had just four ships until it launched Disney Wish in 2022. Now, it’s on track to double that number by 2025 with the addition of Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure.
