Thats been Hurtigrutens vow to travelers who book select voyages during the auroral season, from October to March.?
Now, the company is expanding its Northern Lights Promise to include voyages that depart starting in mid-September.
At Hurtigruten, we firmly believe that Norway is the best place to experience the Northern Lights and that our coastal cruises offer the best way to explore Norway, says Hedda Felin, Hurtigrutens CEO.?
The promo applies to guests who sail on the North Cape Express or the Original Coastal Express from September 20, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Their itinerary must be at least 11 days long.
If the Northern Lights are not visible from the ship at any time during their cruise, they can book a 6-day southbound or a seven-day northbound Original Coastal Express Classic Voyage for free.?Hurtigruten says a sighting occurs when the ships deck officers spot the aurora borealis, then make an announcement to passengers on board. Guests have the option of having announcements made directly in their cabin.
Hurtigruten is also offering a variety of sailings hosted by astronomers during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. The company introduced those themed cruises last year and they were successful.
