Hurtigruten is celebrating its 131 anniversary this year. In honor of this milestone, the cruise line is running a North American birthday sale from now through July 16.
The company, which began sailing the Norwegian coast on July 2, 1893, is offering up to 50 percent of its Original Coastal Express Voyages and up to 35 percent off its Signature Voyages (the Svalbard Line and the North Cape Line) departing during the 2024-25 season. Guests can also save up to 15 percent and receive up to 5,000 Norwegian kroner ($450) on 2025-26 season departures.
In addition, Hurtigruten also recently announced that its ambitious SeaZero project won first place for Concept Vessel Design of the Year at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards in Amsterdam.
With SeaZero, Hurtigruten is working to build the worlds most energy-efficient ship. The project is a collaboration between Hurtigruten, the Norwegian research institute SINTEF, Vard, Brunvoll and other partners in the Norwegian maritime industry.
"It is a great honor for us to receive this award as recognition for all the hard work our partners and employees have put into this project so far," says Gerry Larsson-Fedde, chief operating officer for Hurtigruten. While some of the technology we will use is mature, a lot of testing, development, and research is still needed in many areas to reach our goal. This award gives us extra motivation to continue this work.
