Royal Caribbean Internationals new ship, Star of the Seas, has reached a key construction milestone. Last week, the ship hit the water for the first time during a float out ceremony.
The new vessel is slated to debut in August 2025 at Port Canaveral, Florida. In the meantime, crews are still hard at work making Royal Caribbeans vision for the ship a reality.
The float out ceremony took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, to celebrate 19 months of construction on the ship so far. While the ship was in dry dock, 92 million gallons of water were added over the course of nine hours. Then, the vessel floated out of the dock and into the outfitting pier, where crews will continue to work on it.

The 5,610-guest vessel will have eight neighborhoods, more than 40 food and beverage venues, waterslides and even a resident dog named Sailor.
Bookings are open for the ships inaugural voyages, which will be 7-night cruises to ports in the Caribbean, with stops at Royal Caribbeans private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
