From the dazzling sunsets over a sea full of whales to the stars that glisten at night, Los Cabos drips in romance.
Set in the Baja Peninsula of Mexico, Los Cabos is one of the most luxurious and intimate areas in Mexico, making it the perfect romantic getaway for couples at any stage in their relationship.
We've put together the best things to do on your vacation to Los Cabos to ignite the passion between you and your significant other.
Stay at Montage Los Cabos
A romantic trip can only be perfect with the right hotel, and for Los Cabos, we choose Montage Los Cabos. This boutique property recently opened in 2018 with a design that reflects the natural desert environment. Couples will find plenty of romantic aspects at Montage Los Cabos, starting in the rooms with their cozy beds, outdoor showers, and indoor deep tubs with room for two.
The infinity pools and hot tubs have views of the ocean and attendants wait on you hand and foot. You'll want to visit the largest spa in the Baja Peninsula, Spa Montage, an adults-only space, as well as take a dip in the hotel's bay, as it's one of the few places in Los Cabos you can swim safely.
Mezcal is perhaps their most romantic restaurant with the outdoor seating area warmed by trendy fireplaces, and when you combine the setting with their modern Mexican cuisine, it makes for a romantically memorable date night.
Whale Watching
Imagine this: you're cozied up on a boat with the sun's warm rays beating down on you, and then, in the distance, a humpback whale jumps into the air, delighting you and your partner. Whale watching experiences are a must in Los Cabos, as its famous for being a location where Humpback and Gray whales migrate between January and March for mating season.
Animal-loving couples will delight in searching for these graceful beasts with Cabo Adventures, a premier tour company with knowledgeable guides. You may even have a chance to hear the romantic song of the whales on your tour. The lovely melodies of the whales will forever stick in the memories of you and your partner.
Lovers Beach
You can't visit Los Cabos without visiting Playa del Amor, or Lover's Beach. This beach is a hidden cove near the famous Arch and it's only accessible by boat. Pack a lunch, something to drink, and your towels, and enjoy a lovely beach day together surrounded by stunning rock formations.
If you have room, bring along some snorkeling equipment for a delightful swim and exploration of the water underworld. Keep in mind that Lover's Beach faces the Sea of Cortez, while on the opposite side is Divorce Beach, whose name puts a damper on the romantic environment and whose waters are not safe to swim in.
Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo
Every Thursday, San Jose del Cabo hosts an art walk in their Gallery District. The charming area comes alive with locals and visitors who meander among the historic buildings and cobblestone streets to admire art.
Start the Thursday event with dinner and wine at the romantic, H Restaurant, whose interior is decorated in a fabulous collection of art. Then take a walk through some of the best galleries of the Art Walk.
You can admire Mexican artists at Patricia Mendoza Gallery, humorous political art at Enrique Bascon's Galeria De Arte, sculptures and abstract paintings at Frank Arnold, play with music, art, and technology at Ivan Guaderrama Art Gallery, and admire Julian Garcia's autodidactic sculptures at Arte Gallery.
Horseback or Camelback Riding
Adventurous couples should try horseback or camelback riding when visiting Los Cabos. Horseback riding is available in various places, but many are drawn to riding horses in front of their hotel, next to the sea.
There are even sunset horseback riding tours which make for an excellently romantic experience to end the day. As for camelback rides, Cabo Adventures' Outback and Camel Ride Safari is your best bet.
Not only do you ride a camel next to the sea, but the tour includes a tequila tasting and a tortilla-making lesson, providing multiple opportunities for you and your loved one to connect.
Dinner at Sunset Monalisa
Sunset Monalisa is the most romantic restaurant in Los Cabos, so a reservation here is a must during your visit. Set on multiple levels on a cliffside that overlooks the sea, Sunset Monalisa has the best views to catch the sunset over the Arch.
Here, you and your love can sometimes see whales in the distance as you sip on wine and indulge in a delightful tasting menu of Mediterranean cuisine designed by Chef Casiano Reyes, Sunset Monalisa's newest addition. As the sky turns yellow, then orange, and finally pink and purple, you'll feel closer than ever with the love of your life at Sunset Monalisa.
Hike to the waterfall at Canon de la Zorra
There are plenty of hiking opportunities around Los Cabos, but the most romantic hike is probably one that ends with a 35-foot waterfall in Canon de la Zorra. It's about an hour's drive from San Jose del Cabo, but well worth the visit, as the waterfall is in a lovely, swimmable lagoon.
Bring your swimsuit and a picnic and enjoy a few hours swimming together or some snacks before you return to Los Cabos.
Spa at The Resort at Pedregal
The Resort at Pedregal has one of the most impressive spas in Los Cabos and thanks to various amenities and services, it's the perfect place for couples to reconnect. Called Luna Y Mar Spa, they offer two deluxe couples suites with indoor private hot tubs, bathrooms, and direct access to the spa pool.
These suites are the perfect option for couples who want some privacy and time together, rather than being separated by the women's and men's relaxation areas. Then indulge in one of their moon phase massages, designed to balance the body and mind, which can only strengthen your bond as a couple.
Art to Table at Patricia Mendoza Gallery
Patricia Mendoza Gallery is starting off 2019 with an exclusive experience that couples will want to pounce on. Called "Art to Table," this special evening experience is only available for 20 people and you'll want to be one of them. Patricia Mendoza, the owner of the gallery, designs a thrilling night of art, culture, and gastronomy by designing a dining experience to reflect the current exhibit on display.
For instance, their next Art to Table experience on February 12 is called, "Las Ropas Caen 2.0" which translates to "the clothes fall off," and will feature an art exhibit and dinner that is sexy, romantic, and sensual.
