JetBlue will
add two flights from New Yorks John F. Kennedy International Airport to Cura?ao
International Airport beginning February 2024, said Cura?ao Tourist Board
officials.
The new winter-schedule
flights will increase JetBlues non-stop frequency to Cura?ao from five flights
per week to daily departures.
In a statement,
Cura?ao Tourist Board attributed the added New York departures to a steadily
growing demand from the U.S. market. The new service follows JetBlues April expansion,
which increased the non-stop flights departing JFK airport for Cura?ao from
three times a week to five times a week.?
This is a
very important achievement in order to continue to enhance our tourism industry
in 2024 and consequently give an impulse to our economy, said Ruisandro
Cijntje, minister of tourism and economic development. Cura?ao officials
have reported booming
tourist arrivals for the destination in 2023.
Cura?ao?hosted 49,258 overnight,
land-based travelers in August, a 16 percent year-over-year increase its second-best visitation month in 2023. The country welcomed 50,937 visitors in July.
Through August,
Cura?ao has hosted 373,068 overnight travelers, a 17 percent year-over-year increase
compared with 2022, when the Caribbean nation hosted 318,432 visitors hosted during the same period.?
The U.S. has
hosted 94,275 overnight arrivals during the first eight months of 2023, surpassing the island's total for 2022, officials said. Cura?aos best year for U.S. visitation came
last year when the country welcomed 93,428 overnight visitors.
Through August,
visitors from the United States and Brazil, Cura?aos two leading source
markets, have both surpassed their overnight arrivals for all of 2022, said Cura?ao
Tourist Board officials.?
