Snow enthusiasts are sure to be shopping around for some fun on the slopes as the holidays fade away and winter truly sets in and the folks at RAVE Reviews are on top of the times, ranking America's best ski towns.
RAVE's list includes a ski town for every type of skier or snowboarder. The list was carefully compiled using a "Shred-o-meter" score from 1-10, 10 being complete ski nirvana.
Bend, Oregon, ranked the highest with a perfect 10. Challenging Mount Bachelor is just over 20 miles away and a buzzy downtown district offers boutique shopping, tasty eats and comfy stays at the recommended Oxford Hotel.
Telluride, Colorado, came close to perfection with a 9.5 on the shred-o-meter. The Telluride Ski Resort gondola is situated right in the heart of town and There Bar and Brown Dog Pizza offer up ideal post-ski grub.
Sandpoint, Idaho, perched on Lake Pend Oreille is moving up the rankings of best ski towns for many reasons. Schweitzer Mountain, just a few miles from the Canadian border, offers varied terrain, with nearly 3,000 acres of ski and snowboard trails, cross-country paths, snowshoeing and snowbiking. Stay at Dover Bay Resort and don't miss dining at gastropub Baxters On Cedar.
"Hitting the slopes is more than just a hobby for some, it's an outlet or an easy way to leave their worries behind. We want it to be easier for everyone to experience that," said Hillary Miller, managing editor for RAVE Reviews.
