After more than half a century in the Mexican hotel industry, Grupo Solmar has established itself as the oldest family-owned hospitality brand in the country.
Located in iconic Los Cabos landmarks, such as the famous Arch, its properties offer services and amenities for a broad segment of guests, of whom approximately 64 percent come from the United States, 30 percent from Mexico, and the rest from Canada, Colombia, and Europe.
The privileged location of the hotels is because Luis Bulnes, founder of Grupo Solmar, arrived as a pioneer in Los Cabos when the destination was a small fishing village. He noticed that many people from California visited Cabo San Lucas to practice sport fishing, so he decided to develop a hotel and, years later, ventured into the business of accommodations equipped with kitchens.
Today, this successful Mexican company, which offers 874 rooms in total and has at least 2,800 employees, is led by Charo Bulnes, daughter of the consortium's founder. It has an exclusive offer of six properties: Solmar Resort, Grand Solmar Land's End Resort & Spa, Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa, Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, The Ridge at Playa Grande, and Grand Solmar The Residences.
"Los Cabos is a destination with many market segments, which is why we offer different activities in the desert and the sea, as well as cultural experiences," Mauricio Salicrup, Grupo Solmar's Chief Operating Officer, tells TravelPulse.
He adds that the different experiences they offer are guaranteed through agreements signed with accredited tour operators in Los Cabos, both online and traditional. In addition, it highlights a call center where people connect to make, in addition to their hotel reservations, the booking on the different experiences they want to enjoy during their stay. "We make the reservation to prevent the customer from wasting time."

One of the most significant distinctions of the hotels of Grupo Solmar is its extraordinary gastronomic offer, which features different concepts with international and national dishes, elaborated with the flavors of Baja California Sur with menus on seafood, grill, sushi, Italian, as well as burgers and tacos.
"Each hotel has at least three or four restaurants with different menu styles. In addition, we have restaurants outside the hotels, such as Romeo & Julieta and Picaro, Fiore Bakery & Coffee, and Wine Bar, which are smaller," says Salicrup and explains that Solmar Resort is the only All-Inclusive property. He says they also offer a culinary experience that allows guests to access all the restaurants.
In addition to offering an exclusive repertoire of spas with exotic experiences of rejuvenation through therapies and rituals with organic ingredients, Grupo Solmar has a spectacular 18-hole golf course, designed by Greg Norman, with fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean.
"We have excellent feedback from golf professionals who are shocked after trying it. As it is a public course, many people want to play on it, and we have tried to maintain its complexity because it is a challenging golf course, which has made many people interested in visiting Los Cabos to play on it," says Grupo Solmar's COO.

Excellent Connectivity
It is worth mentioning that Los Cabos is a destination that is easily reached from two airports, one for commercial flights and another for private flights, located approximately half an hour away from the properties of Grupo Solmar. "We have great connectivity with Mexico and also with the United States.?
In addition, for November, we will start our connection with Frankfurt with a frequency of two weekly flights with Condor airline."
After a successful recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, Grupo Solmar is embarking on an intense roadmap that includes, this year, the redevelopment of Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, the development of a holiday club with new rooms, as well as a growth plan at Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa, three years away, including the development of some 200 luxury rooms. The strategy also seeks opportunities for Grupo Solmar to become a multi-destination brand.
