2024 is a great year to be a traveling sports fan.
This year's calendar of events is loaded with big-time tournaments and competitions, some of which only come around once every four years.
When it comes to attending the best sporting events in 2024, these destinations stand out.
Las Vegas, Nevada
The Entertainment Capital of the World will be buzzing with marquee sporting events all year long, perhaps none bigger than Super Bowl LVIII on February 11.
Additionally, visitors can catch the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights and the back-to-back defending WNBA champion Aces in action on the ice and on the hardwood, respectively.
Fans of mixed martial arts will descend on the city for the milestone UFC 300 on April 13 but the city will host other fight cards throughout the year.
In late November, the lucrative Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix returns to Sin City for another thrilling race past some of the most iconic Las Vegas landmarks.

Paris, France
All eyes will be on Paris this summer for the 2024 Olympics.
The Summer Games will see more than 10,000 athletes from around the world competing in dozens of competitions, with the opening ceremony taking place on July 26. The 2024 Olympic Games will conclude more than two weeks later on August 11. Paris will also be the site of the 2024 Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
Before that, the City of Light will host the 2024 French Open tennis championships at Roland-Garros from May 20 to June 9.
Due to preparations for this summer's Olympics, the 2024 Tour de France cycling race will not finish in or near Paris but visitors can venture outside of the city to catch the action from June 29 to July 21.

Germany
Elsewhere in Europe, Germany will host the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship from June 14 to July 14.
The 10 host cities will include Berlin, Dortmund, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen and Dsseldorf, with the final match being held in Berlin.
Italy will enter as defending champions but Germany and Spain have won more than any other countries, each securing three European Championships.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Philly will be abuzz for multiple epic sporting showdowns in 2024, none bigger than WrestleMania XL, an epic two-night event that will take place at Lincoln Financial Field on April 6-7.
Both before and after, travelers to the City of Brotherly Love can experience the city's beloved professional sports franchises, including the NBA's 76ers, Major League Baseball's Phillies, the Flyers of the NHL and, of course, the NFL's Eagles boasting one of the most rabid fan bases in all of sports.
Soccer fans can also catch the Philadelphia Union in action at Subaru Park.
London, UK
There's little doubt that Europe boasts numerous events worth traveling for this year and you can be sure sports enthusiasts will be flocking to London for some monumental events this summer.
It starts with the 2024 UEFA Champions League final pitting Europe's top two soccer clubs against each other inside Wembley Stadium on June 1.
Exactly one month later, the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club across town will host the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The prestigious tennis tournament will kick off July 1 and conclude with the men's singles final on July 14.

New York, New York
Sports fans can close out summer at the year's final tennis major during the 2024 U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York.
The two-week tournament will run from August 26 to September 8 and feature some of the season's best matchups, many of which are poised to last long into the night.
New York will also host cricket World Cup action for the first time in 2024 during the ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in the U.S. and the West Indies from June 1-29.
Detroit, Michigan

The Detroit Lions are coming off a deep NFL playoff run this winter and despite falling short of the Super Bowl, the Motor City will be under the spotlight come April 25-27 when it hosts the NFL Draft for the first time ever.
The league's premier offseason event will be held downtown around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza and include the NFL Draft Experience, the league's interactive football theme park.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers will introduce a revamped Comerica Park for the 2024 season, unveiling a new video boardthe second largest in Major League Baseballsound system and concourse televisions.
Louisville, Kentucky
Louisville will be the place to be this spring as Kentucky's top tourist destination will once again host the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May. This year's racetaking place May 4will mark the 150th renewal of The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.
Less than two weeks later, Louisville's Valhalla Golf Club will host the 2024 PGA Championship from May 16-19. Sports fans can also tour the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory year-round.

Georgia
The Peach State will have plenty to offer sports fans this year, from the 2024 Masters golf championship at Augusta National to University of Georgia Bulldogs football games in nearby Athens in the fall.?
Visitors to Georgia can also catch great action in Atlanta, home to the six-time defending NL East champion Braves of Major League Baseball, the NBA's Hawks, the NFL's Falcons and Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer.
Monaco
Monaco on the French Riviera will host a pair of prestigious sporting events in 2024, starting with the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament from April 6-14.?
The following month, Formula 1's best teams and drivers will descend on the principality for the Monaco Grand Prix on May 26. The inaugural race was held way back in 1929 and this beloved circuit is one of the most breathtaking in the sport.?
