What events are you most excited about in 2019?
The answer to that question for the world's globetrotters has just been revealed by a new survey from Love Home Swap.
A travel company whose creation was inspired by the cult movie classic The Holiday, Love Home Swap recently surveyed Americans and found that the number one most anticipated event in 2019 is Munich's Oktoberfest.
About 34 percent of survey participants said it's the event they most want to attend. (And they're not alone. Munich's annual Oktoberfest attracts between six to seven million people each year.) The 2019 dates for Munich's massive beer celebration will be September 21 through October 6.
The second most popular event on the radar of avid travelers is the Super Bowl, which will take place in Atlanta this year. About 26 percent of respondents are hoping to attend. In third place is the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami, Florida, which earned the vote of 20 percent of survey participants.
The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF) is a national, star-studded, five-day affair showcasing the talents of the world's most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs, and culinary personalities. Now in its 18th year, there will be more than 100 events. The 2019 dates for the foodie event are February 20 through February 24.
Wimbledon (July 1 through July 14 in London England), and the annual SXSW music extravaganza for hipsters everywhere rounded out the top five most anticipated events of 2019. This year SXSW, which takes place in Austin, Texas, will be March 8 through March 17.
The Love Home Swap survey also revealed that only 45 percent of participants plan on visiting one of their bucket list destinations in the next five years. About 85 percent cited cost as an issue when it comes to completing their travel.
