A new study found that Japan boasts the world's strongest passport for 2018, taking the top spot from Singapore.
According to Channel News Asia, the Henley Passport Index revealed Tuesday that Japan now boasts visa-free/visa-on-arrival access to 190 destinations with the addition of Myanmar earlier this month.
Singapore residents have visa-free access to 189 destinations, making the country the second most powerful passport in the index. Germany now shares third place with South Korea and France.
Rounding out the top 10 are Denmark, Finland, Italy, Sweden and Spain, all tied with visa-free access to 187 destinations. The United States and the United Kingdom both dropped down the list.
"With stagnant outbound visa activity compared to Asian high-performers such as Japan, Singapore and South Korea, it seems increasingly unlikely that the U.S. and the U.K. will regain the number one spot they jointly held in 2015," Henley officials said.
