Visiting the Anchor Bar Today

The Anchor Bar is still located at its original downtown Buffalo address. It's a characterful red brick building covered with patriotic murals, logos of Buffalo sports teams, and signs declaring its status as the 'original home of the chicken wing'. No, they're not shy about bragging about their place in bar food history, and before you enter the door, you're even greeted by a statue of Teressa herself; holding a bowl of chicken wings, naturally.

Inside the Anchor Bar, the walls are adorned with an all-American array of dangling motorcycles, smart-aleck signs, and license plates alongside loads of chicken wing memorabilia. The star of the show though is, of course, the wings.

They are sold by the single (10 wings), double (20 wings), or bucket size (50 wings) and are slathered in mild, medium, hot, or spicy barbecue sauce. All wings are accompanied with celery and blue cheese (just as they were on that first night in 1964) and paired with classic faux-wood bowls - you know, for your bones.

Bottom line: if you love chicken wings, food history, or Americana, you'll love visiting the Anchor Bar.

Know Before You Go

Anchor Bar is located in the heart of downtown Buffalo, with free onsite parking.

Address: 1047 Main St, Buffalo, NY 14209

Website: Anchor Bar

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 11am to 10pm, Friday: 11am to 11pm, Saturday: 12pm to 11pm, & Sunday: 12pm to 10pm
