Traveling to Hawaii this winter? Here is a list of notable events happening across the islands.
November
Kona Coffee Cultural Festival (Big Island): Celebrate the Kona coffee region's near 200-year history from November 9-18 with coffee tastings, farm tours, art displays, music and food pairings.
Hawaiian Pro Surf Competition (Oahu): The first event of the Vans Triple Crown on the North Shore at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach takes place November 13-24.
Vans World Cup of Surfing (Oahu): The second event of the Triple Crown will be at Sunset Beach from November 25 to December 6.
December
Honolulu Marathon (Oahu): The iconic 26.2-mile race takes place December 9.
Billabong Pipe Masters (Oahu): The last event of the Triple Crown takes place at Pipeline from December 8-20.
Lahaina Christmas Tree Lighting (Maui): The big, iconic banyan tree in Lahaina will be lit up for the holidays on December 1.
January
Waimea Ocean Film Festival (Big Island): Water and Ocean Film Festival takes place from January 1-9 in the upcountry town of Waimea and in selected hotels.
Sony Open (Oahu): Watch the best in golf compete at the Waialae Country Club from January 7-13.
Ka Molokai Makahiki (Molokai): Annual Makahiki celebration with traditional ceremonies and games on January 26.
February
Waimea Town Celebration (Kauai): This nine-day festival celebrates the culture and history of the historic plantation town from February 16-24.
Pow Wow Hawaii (Oahu): This annual graffiti festival is held in Kakaako the week of Valentine's Day. Artists, both local and international, paint new murals and street art throughout the city.
Maui Whale Festival (Maui): This month-long celebration of whales includes educational and recreational opportunities, from film festivals, concert cruises, and on-water surveys.
March
Honolulu Festival (Oahu): Traditional dance and art performances headline this celebration of Asian, Pacific, and Hawaiian cultures from March 8-10.
