Cedar Point is already known as one of the top theme parks for roller coaster enthusiasts, but the announcement Wednesday that the park would be opening a new record-breaking coaster has everyone excited.
According to the Detroit News, Steel Vengeance will be a hybrid roller coaster taking the place of Mean Streak, which closed in 2016. When the transformation of the ride is completed, it will measure 205 feet tall, 5,470 feet long and reach speeds of 74 miles per hour, all new world records for a hybrid coaster.
The Steel Vengeance's steepest drop of 90 degrees and the four inversions will also become world records.

Cedar Point's general manager Jason McClure revealed during an announcement ceremony that construction on the ride will be completed within three months and then work on the new queue area will begin. The ride will have to go through about a month of testing before it is scheduled to debut during the first weekend in May.

Rocky Mountain Construction has taken on the task of redesigning and rebuilding the hybrid coaster, which includes building new trains, improving numerous air-time hills and even adding a twisted snake dive guaranteed to make riders scream.
"It will probably be the wildest coaster at Cedar Point," McClure said.
