Fans came out in droves as Disneyland opened its reservations for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy Edge Thursday, with every publicly available pass being claimed in under two hours.
A Disney spokesperson told TravelPulse the only way to now secure a reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park between May 31 and June 23 is to stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel.
The reservation system went live Thursday at 10 a.m. local time and were all filled by 11:50 a.m.
Travelers trying to secure a reservation for the initial opening period of the Star Wars: Galaxy Edge land were greeted by a queue that told users "Due to high demand, you are waiting to enter Disneyland.com."
The reservations were of no cost to guests, but they were necessary in addition to standard admission to be part of the exclusive opening at the Star Wars-themed land. The park will be open to all guests without reservations starting June 24.
While many of the reservations set aside for Disney resort guests have already been claimed, there is still a limited number available to those who book their stay at a qualifying property.
For travelers who were lucky enough to secure a reservation, the rules for entering Star Wars: Galaxy Edge are strict. Guests will have to show their park admission ticket, reservation information and anyone 18 and older must present a valid government-issued photo ID.
