The Internet is filled with crazy videos taken by people who have visited Maho Beach in St. Maarten. Trust us when we say you need to see just one more.
We spotted the following Instagram video over on Reddit, posted by user smartemwa. It leads to an Instagram video taken by Paul Luning who states in the caption, "Flying frequently tends to make one either bitter or obsessed with aviation. I fall into the latter category. Visiting Maho Beach in Saint Marteen (sic), was always on my bucket list. It's as crazy as it looks - planes landing just feet from a public beach."
Here's the proof:
Now Maho Beach is renowned for its planes more than its beautiful beach and blue waters.
And when you see any one of the multitude of images on the web you will understand why. For example, here is a video that highlights the airport's takeoffs (Hold on) and landings (Duck).
There are myriad versions of this type of video floating around the Internet and various snapshot galleries as well.
Luning's Instagram is just one more for the pile but well worth the watch. The slow-motion capture is a stark reminder that not all airports are created equally.
Some are massive, mandating sprinting from gate to gate. And some are quite peculiar, like the one in St. Maarten that is nestled close to a beach, letting visitors experience what it's like to have a front-row seat to the comings and goings of gigantic jet liners.
