An Avatar-themed world is expected to join Disneyland Resort in the near future, according to Walt Disney Co.s CEO, Bob Iger.?
Iger, according to local news station KTLA, an affiliate of Nexstar Media Group Inc., shared the plans on March 5 during a conference call.?
We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida; were going to put a second one in California. That doesnt mean we cant put one somewhere in Asia or somewhere in Europe, for instance, said Iger during the event.
This isnt the first time weve heard news about expanding Avatar-themed experiences across the globe: in 2023, Iger hinted at something Avatar-themed, but had no definitive information. Then last May, Disney announced that James Cameron, the franchises director, was working with Walt Disney Imagineering.?
We also covered a list of new updates across Disneys parks and cruise line at the beginning of the year. These updates are expected to come in 2024, while the Avatar-themed park does not yet have a date and will likely debut in a few more years.?
Disneyland is entering a new phase of development with the city of Anaheim, with a new Disneyland Forward proposal. The company will spend at least $1.9 billion over the next decade to put the plan into action, though the Anaheim City Council still has a few months before it votes on whether to approve it in May. The Avatar-themed land is likely a part of this new development plan.?
