As more Americans undertake long-distance travel with their beloved family members-AKA pets-there has been a dramatic increase in the hotels and hotel brands that are relaxing their pet policies.
While this shift is welcome news for those bringing along Fido and Fluffy, most pet policies do include one small fine print caveat-weight and breed restrictions may apply.
Not so at the Super 8 Georgetown in Kentucky.

Located near the Kentucky Horse Park, the property, a Wyndham brand clearly understands the bond between horse and rider.
When equestrienne Lyndsey Partridge set off for the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium with her beloved horse Here Comes Aldri (nicknamed Blizz), she left her native Ontario, Canada at 3 a.m. to a.m. to make the long drive to Kentucky.
On her way to the horse park, she stopped to check in at the Super 8 to unpack her luggage, according to The Chronicle of the Horse. As she was completing the check-in process, the front desk staff mentioned their pet policy. At which time Partridge joked, "My horses are here, will they be allowed in?"
A $10 pet deposit later, Blizz was meeting the Super 8 front desk staff and then happily ensconced in Partridge's hotel room, where she got to enjoy some quality American television.
Blizz did not spend the night at the hotel, however, opting instead for more "conventional equine housing" at the horse park.
Still, the hotel stop seems to have been restorative after the long ride, as Blizz' performance in the qualifying match earned her an advancement to the finals. Ultimately, Blizz took third place in the Competitive Trail category, bested by two other horses from Partridge's stable, Harmony Horsemanship.

The Thoroughbred Makeover is annual showcase designed to encourage and inspire trainers to transition retired thoroughbreds to second careers. It is the only national gathering of organizations, trainers and farms dedicated to serving these retired horses.
According to the Super 8 website, the brand does not have an official pet policy and leaves the decision up to each individual property.
