June 21 marks World Giraffe Day, celebrated annually by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. The day, which is the longest day or night of the year, depending on your hemisphere, is the perfect time to honor these long-necked creatures. Several zoos, schools, NGOs, governments and institutions around the world host events to raise awareness and support for the giraffe in the wild.
Here are a few fun places to see and interact with giraffes in honor of their national day.
See Giraffes on Safari

Meet Gerry the Giraffe at the Giraffe House near Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. Visit Gerry and his wild friends at this wildlife awareness center. visitors can experience daily interactive encounters and meet and hold some of these interesting creatures. There is a wide variety of animal life at the center, including vervet monkeys, meerkat, springbok, cape fox, tortoises, snakes, crocodile and more.
