There are many places that you can go to get the best dessert for your holiday feast or office Christmas party. But if you want to really show up everyone and bring the house down, these are the places that you need to go to get the best.
Junior's Cheesecake
Since the 1950's, Junior's Cheesecake has been serving up a little slice of heaven in their Flatbush, Brooklyn location. Now with three more locations: Grand Central Terminal, on Broadway, and in Times Square, there is really no excuse for not picking up a cheese cake for the holiday. Sure they have the traditional cheesecakes, but why get one of those when you can get a chocolate dream layer cake or lemon coconut cheesecake. These are the cheesecakes that dreams are made of, and your family will not regret a bite of it.
Pecan Pie
I am a homer when it comes to pecan pie. I may have been reared in the north, but my culinary tastes grew up in the south; South Carolina to be exact. On the way from Hilton Head Island to Charleston, with now two locations on Route 17, lies the Carolina Cider Co.. They have everything you could possibly want in a roadside stand: ciders, jams, relishes, pickled everything, sauces, mixes, nuts and more. They also have an incredible pecan pie. Chef Laurel Goodman is the name behind the pies that are sold there and she knows what she is doing. I never have been as proud to partake in pecan pie after I had theirs. Buy up everything Vidalia, pecan and cider related while you are there; trust me.
Apple Pie
There are a bunch of places in the U.S. that claim to have the best apples in the country, but for me it is Washington State. So if we go to pie shop in let's saySeattle, where would we go? To High 5 Pie of course! They don't just do normal pies, they do pie jars, handheld turnovers, little pies they call Cuties, pie-pops and even have take and bake pies. Their apple pie is just one of the 23 flavors that they have available and they range from sweet to savory. If you happen to eat in, they give you an enormous scoop of locally made vanilla ice cream to go along with your slice of pie.
Key Lime Pie
I know that typically Key Lime Pie is reserved for those long summer days and hot summer nights, but in my family, there really is no bad time to have it. Kermit Carpenter has been doing it right down there in Key West for over 20 years at the Key West Lime Shop. What started as selling smoothies on the street has developed into two Key West locations, a production facility and showroom, a bustling online store and a wholesale business. The Key Lime pie is great, but the real deal is the dark chocolate dipped frozen Key Lime pie on a stick! ?Ay Chihuahua!
Cookies
You can't have Christmas without cookies, and there are so many places to buy them, that is tough to pick the best place in the country to go to. With that being said, I will pick my favorite, Eleni's New York in Chelsea Market.
Her normal selection of hand crafted cookies are some of the most beautiful and creative designs that I have ever seen, but for the holidays, she goes over the top. Whether you are getting the Candy Land Christmas Cookie Gift Set or the Festival of Lights Cookie Gift Set or one of the other hundred items she has for sale, you are sure to be pleased not with just how they look, but how they taste as well. They are even a kosher and nut free for those who need it.
So there ya go! All the places you have to go to pick up the tastiest desserts in the states. The good news is that almost all of the places mentioned on this page deliver their goods and there is still enough time to deliver before the holidays!
What is your favorite dessert for the holidays? Where would you go to get it? Let me know!
