Atlantis is coming to the United States.
At least thats the plan.
California-based developer?Kam Sang Company purchased two oceanfront
parcels from China Oceanwide Holdings Group for $216 million.
The iconic
resort is slated to be built on a vacant 26-acre property next to Aulani, A
Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina on the west side of Oahu according to
Hawaii News Now.
If the project goes through, it will be the first resort of
its kind in the U.S. and will join the family of Atlantis two other resorts in
the Bahamas and Dubai.
The resort project was originally pitched 20 years
ago when former Governor Linda Lingle looked at plans with Ko Olina developers,
but it was later abandoned.
The $2 billion development includes plans to have 500 hotel
rooms and 500 condo units and take roughly five years to build.
According to Hawaii News Now residents have mixed reviews
about the project. Some say it will boost the economy while others are
concerned about parking.
