Mexican recreational tourism company Experiencias Xcaret Group has unveiled a new public attraction of a different kind-its first hotel property.
Officially opened on December 1, Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an all-inclusive, luxe resort in the Riviera Maya that caters to both adults and families with a variety of lodging options, pools and restaurants. Babysitting services, a kids and teen club are also available upon request.
Having approximately 900 all-view suites, the five-star hotel features lodging venues named after the elements, such as Casa Fuego (Fire,) an adults-only building with a European restaurant and rooftop pool, and Casa Agua (Water), which has more of a holistic atmosphere and is located near the resort's spa and wellness center.
As for accommodations, suite options extend to junior and master suites, and even a swim-up suite (in which the outdoor patio area has a pool area). Their interiors are furnished with locally-made dcor such as artisan bathroom tiling.
Rooms also include a technology component: Guests are given a watch-looking wristband that provides keyless entry. This waterproof wristband also serves as an admission ticket to the parks and an order placement form for pictures taken at machines placed throughout the hotel property and Xcaret parks.
Upon arrival at Hotel Xcaret Mexico, guests set foot within a lobby area in its main building called "Casa Grande." With an ocean-floor design, this space holds decorative fixtures replicating sea vegetation, grey coral-looking and comfortable seating.
With 10 restaurants and eight bars, dining selections at the Hotel Xcaret Mexico are quite diverse in menu and location.
H, which means water in the Maya language, is a contemporary Mexican restaurant with an aquatic setup of fountain fixtures and a platform entrance that submerges guests into the seating area. It's led by Chef Carlos Gaytan, a former contestant on Bravo's "Top Chef" series and the first Mexican chef to be awarded a Michelin star. Gaytan also oversees the Chicago restaurant, Mextique.
The resort's "All-Fun Inclusive" program is linked to Experiencias Xcaret Group's eight parks and tours. Shuttle service is provided to and from the resort and each attraction. Transportation to Cancn International Airport is also available, and the drive is about 45 minutes.
