Death Valley National Park's iconic Furnace Creek Inn and Furnace Creek Ranch are getting an upgrade.
Xanterra Parks & Resorts-which manages both properties as well as the golf course and RV park-will be dedicating millions to upgrade the properties and rebrand them as the Oasis at Death Valley.
The new Oasis at Death Valley will then be home to a reinvigorated Inn at Death Valley and Ranch at Death Valley. All three areas that comprise the "oasis" will be upgraded with improvements to accommodations, public spaces and facilities, accessibility, landscaping, energy conservation and major upgrades to the golf course, according to Xanterra.
"The Oasis in Death Valley is a truly special place on the American landscape. It's a resort steeped in history and lore, all embraced by one of the last pristine environments in the country," said Andrew Todd, president and CEO of Xanterra Parks & Resorts in a statement.
"Xanterra is excited with the opportunity to create a renaissance at the property that respects the past, evolves the guest experience and leaves a gentler footprint on this sacred land."
The 66-room inn is currently closed for the summer in order to allow for the upgrades to begin, though the 224-room Furnace Creek Ranch will remain open for guests heading to the park this summer.
When the resort area emerges from its transformation, guests will find an updated look as well as many new features.

At the inn, there will be 11 new two-room casitas surrounding the spring-fed pool and gardens. All the rooms will be updated and as will the lobby.
There will also be a new focus on wellness that includes an enlarged fitness area and a spa and treatment rooms. The pool area will be upgraded with a poolside bar and cabanas as well.
The famous dining room, well-known for its stunning views of the surrounding landscape, will be updated with hardwood floors, banquette seating, pergolas and more. A new group and event space will also be attractive for groups, retreats and team-building experiences.
The new Inn at Death Valley is scheduled to reopen in October while the work on the ranch is scheduled to be completed in April of 2018.
