Hurricane Helene impacted Florida and much of the Gulf Coast.
The U.S. Travel Association is calling on Congress to quickly pass legislation that provides timely disaster relief in the wake of two devastating storms in Hurricane Helene and Milton.
The hurricanes resulted in hundreds of deaths and countless destruction across the Southeast U.S. in recent weeks.
"The devastation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton demands that Congress pass disaster relief as soon as possible," U.S. Travel President and CEO Geoff Freeman said in a statement on Friday, urging lawmakers to take swift action this fall.
"Communities, small businesses and workers in the path of the stormsmany of whom depend on visitorsare unable to welcome conventions, meetings and leisure travelers until Congress provides the required resources to rebuild. If there are any unnecessary delays, American communities will needlessly suffer," added Freeman.
Both the House and Senate are in recess until after next month's election, with both chambers returning to session on November 12.
