The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) elected Stacey A.
Liburd, the Anguilla Tourist Boards director of tourism, vice chair
representative for the British Overseas Territories on CTOs executive committee,
CTO officials announced.
Liburd will serve a two-year term, from September 2024 through
2026 and assist the CTO to help shape and advance the tourism strategy for the
Caribbean region, officials said, to ensure the Caribbean's tourism offerings remain competitive on the global stage.
As vice chair, Liburd will work in collaboration with [CTO
chairman] Ian Gooding-Edghill and Andrea Franklin, chairperson of CTOs board
of directors, and other members of the executive committee and the allied board
of directors, officials said.
I am deeply committed to promoting our unique tourism
experiences and working collaboratively with my fellow members to drive
regional growth and sustainability, said Liburd. Together, we can enhance our
collective voice and ensure that the interests of the Caribbean are well
represented on the broader global stage.
Liburd is greatly respected and admired by her colleagues
for demonstrating leadership, vision and commitment to the goals and values
that make our tourism industry one of the strongest and most exciting in the
world, said Dona Regis-Prosper, CTOs secretary general.
Added Regis-Prosper, I am deeply grateful the next two
years will be marked by continued progress thanks to her contributions and
collaboration with other members of our leadership team.
