American Cruise Lines newest ship, American Liberty, has successfully passed sea trials and is ready to host travelers on its inaugural cruise next month.
The Coastal Cat, which can accommodate up to 100 passengers, is the newest vessel in American Cruise Lines Project Blue series of 12 new small ships for domestic river and coastal cruising. A fourth Coastal Cat, American Legend, is also under construction and slated to debut in November.
American Liberty is the newest ship in our fleet, reflecting our ongoing commitment to building small innovative ships for Americas rivers and coasts, says Charles B. Robertson, president and chief executive officer of American Cruise Lines.
American Liberty was built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, and was delivered early. The vessel officially debuts August 15 with a roundtrip sailing from Providence, Rhode Island, on the New England Islands itinerary.
The ship will visit New Bedford, Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard, Massachusetts; and Block Island, Newport, and Bristol, Rhode Island.
American Liberty will also offer other itineraries along the East Coast throughout the rest of the year.
Most recently, American Cruise Lines also launched sister ships American Eagle and American Glory.
