Saga is adding a new river cruise ship to its fleet. The new vessel, named Spirit of the Moselle, is under construction now at the Vahali shipyard in Serbia, with an anticipated launch date of July 2025.
The United Kingdom-based company specializes in products and services for people over the age of 50, including cruises, insurance, travel packages, legal services and financial products.
Sagas current river fleet includes two sister ships: Spirit of the Rhine, which debuted in 2021, and Spirit of the Danube, which set sail in 2022. (Saga also has two ocean ships, which are designed for the British market: Spirit of Discovery and Spirit of Adventure.)
Weve reached another great milestone in our river cruise collection, says Sergei Tocili, Sagas director of river product. Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube have proven to be a great success with our guests, and I expect Spirit of Moselle will continue the same high quality river cruising while allowing us to explore a wider range of rivers.
Spirit of the Moselle will be similar to the existing ships, with boutique design elements such as floor-to-ceiling windows, a sun deck, a panoramic restaurant and an intimate dining area near the back of the ship.?
The new ship will have 95 cabinsincluding 73 with French balconieswith a total capacity of 182 guests. When the vessel launches next summer, it will primarily sail on the Main River in Germany, with stops in Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Bamberg. It will also take travelers through the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
