Adventure travel certainly has a way of changing your perspective on life.
It can open your eyes to different ways of existing, push you to your physical limits, renew your passion for the great outdoors and expand your comfort zone, to name a few benefits.
With all of these things in mind, Forbes recently identified some of the top adventure trips on tap for 2018.
Cycling West Africa
This trip presents quite the memorable getaway for cycling enthusiasts everywhere. TDA Global Cycling is offering a West Africa en Velo tour, which involves biking 3,850 miles over the course of 10 weeks.
The journey will take participants from Morocco to Ghana, into remote Guinea, as well as to the Cote d'Ivoire. It concludes in Cape Coast. Altogether, there will be 57 riding days and 14 rest days.
Multisport Bolivia
If merely biking is not enough, consider Bike Hike Adventures' 11-day multisport trip. Bolivia: Cycling the Bolivian Salt Flats & Hiking the Amazon includes biking across the largest salt flat on the planet, (including spending the night in a hotel constructed of salt).
After that, it's on to exploring rainforest, hiking and bunking in some of Bolivia's top jungle lodges.
Tasmania
Walk your way to transformation on the 16-day trip Tasmania Walk & Wonder "Sole to Soul." Offered by Evergreen X trips, this journey is described as an opportunity to "step into the unknown." It has been designed to amplify the life-changing benefits of travel, allowing participants to slow down and enjoy the meditative opportunities that come with long walks.
Zambezi Hiking, Rafting, Kayaking
Yet another option for adventure travel, this getaway covers many bases: rafting, kayaking, hiking, gorge swinging, and zip lining. Offered by ROAM Adventures, the trip begins at the junction of Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia, says Forbes.
During 12 days, you'll visit three countries, spend time in luxe safari camps and visit the world's largest commercial whitewater rapids.
Cultural Adventure in India
Blend the beauty of mountain treks with cultural experiences in bustling cities on this vacation. Offered by Immersion Journeys, the East India: Temple Mythology & Mountain Peaks journey is an off-the-beaten-path opportunity.
You will spend time in Kolkata, meandering the streets immersed in the arts and culture and getting to know the people of the city. There will also be explorations of some of India's Hindu temples and then it is onward to the highlands of Darjeeling and Sikkim, a region known as Little Bhutan.
