Going to the beach this summer?
With all the pollution in the oceans we face today, it's important to be mindful of how you act on your beach vacation.
Polluted beaches impact the local economy, harm the animals that habitat the area and kills the marine life in the ocean.
There's already evidence of plastic in all levels of the food chain, as millions of plastic microparticles are ingested by animals that later end up on our plate.
What can you do to help keep the beaches clean?
Follow the lead from Sandos Hotels & Resorts, which continues to make a strong effort in sustainable tourism.
Join volunteers and campaigns like the Sandos Foundation and take action to assist in picking up trash as well as creating awareness for others to see they need to cut back on their plastic use.
Participate in a beach-clean up with your children, nephews, nieces or grandchildren. Start them young on environmental awareness, so they can see the change and help better the world for the future.
Other ways to help keep the beaches clean include eliminating, limiting and or re-using plastic, cleaning up after your pet, leaving sand and shells where they belong and never smoking on the beach.
