Visit Fort Lauderdale is offering up numerous sensory-friendly activities for families to enjoy in Greater Fort Lauderdale from museums to sporting events in honor of Autism Awareness month this April.
Touch-A-Truck 2024 takes place on April 13 in the City of Pompano Beach. Children can enjoy creative exploration of a fire truck, a sanitation truck, a dump truck, a police car and more. A sensory-friendly hour will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with no sirens, horns, music or lights. The Zensory Zone Van will also be on-site with sensory products like fidget tubes, tactile books, stress balls and more.
The We Rock The Spectrum kids play place is a space where children can engage in social interactions while playing in an inclusive environment. There are sensory-based toys, an indoor play structure, crash mats and pillows for children to enjoy and learn.?
Flamingo Gardens offers a a sensory-inclusive experience for everyone at one of the area's oldest and largest botanical gardens. Visitors can also head to Greater Fort Lauderdales Central Park, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park where they will find beach access, a calming environment and scenic walking trails.
